Alicia Harlov

After much research, I decided to try my horse barefoot. She is a 17-year-old draft cross with great feet, so she seemed like a good candidate. I became aware of Alicia Harlov from other horse owners I knew raving about her work. I discovered her social media page and podcast. I was immediately struck by how passionate and knowledgeable Alicia is. I decided making a major change with my horse's feet should be done with the best farrier possible, and that is exactly what she is. From our first appointment, Alicia was exhaustively thorough about every aspect of my horse's health/life. She wanted to know absolutely everything — it was incredible to see how she approached the beginning of my horse's rehab to barefoot. She took video of her moving and standing to see how she uses her feet to develop her strategy. From the very first trim, Veronica (my horse) began to move in our rides like she was 10 years old again. Alicia has carefully documented her progress and has provided vital recommendations for her diet to continue to improve the quality of her hooves. Alicia challenges me to educate myself to improve my horse's health and happiness. Watching her work is like watching a sculpture artist carefully make tiny adjustments for the finished piece of artwork. She makes an adjustment and stands back to see the results as she is working — it's a beautiful process. I truly feel I have a partner in my horse's health and well-being with Alicia Harlov. Not only has she pursued knowledge for her own work, but she so generously makes it available for others to access and learn from. She very aptly named her business "The Humble Hoof" as being humble provides space for all to grow. Alicia is truly a gifted farrier.
