The Equine Disease Communication Center has been awarded a grant from the National Animal Disease Preparedness and Response Program to increase awareness of biosecurity among horse owners and healthcare providers.
The Foundation for the Horse is seeking applicants to receive up to $20,000 for equine research. The grants are targeted towards emerging equine researchers, including graduate students, fellows, and residents at universities or American Association of Equine Practitioners members.

Legendary Farriers Start Pink Apron Charity
Billy Crothers and Myron McLane have started the Pink Apron Charity to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research. Both farriers solidified the plans for the Pink Apron Charity at this year’s American Farrier’s Association (AFA) convention, which met in Reno, Nev.
Another equine organization expressed its support for retaining the farrier exemption in the American Veterinary Medical Association’s Model Veterinary Practice Act.
New York Police Department Deploys Mobile Farrier Unit
As part of a $100,000 upgrade, farriers now go to the New York Police Department Mounted Police Unit's horses to keep them on patrol.
