A number of International Hoof-Care Summit attendees were honored with special awards and prizes during the seventh annual early February event in Cincinnati.
Six outstanding individuals were inducted into the two Halls Of Fame that are sponsored by the Kentucky Derby Museum and American Farriers Journal (Seen here for details.)
New inductees into the International Horseshoeing Hall Of Fame include Doyle Blagg of Collinsville, Texas; John Marino of Peaster, Texas; Bob Smith of the Pacific Coast Horseshoeing School in Plymouth, Calif.; and Bob Walters of Dimmit, Texas.
New inductees into the International Equine Veterinarians Hall Of Fame are Dr. Beth Valentine of Oregon State University in Corvallis, Ore.; and Dr. Tom Phillips, formerly of Naperville, Ill.
Margie Lee-Gustafson was named as the “Summit Achievement Award” winner in a program sponsored by the Delta Mustad Hoofcare Center and American Farriers Journal. The veteran farrier from Palo Alto, Calif., was honored for volunteering her footcare services for over 14 years to the National Center for Equine Facilitated Therapy in Woodside, Calif.
Three young farriers were honored with “Rising Shoeing Star” awards. They are Sara Pannell of Woodbine, Md.; Allen Rynda of New Prague, Minn.; and Tom Richmond of Kamuela, Hawaii. This program that salutes farriers who graduated 3 years ago from shoeing school is co-sponsored by Anvil Brand Shoe Co., G.E. Forge & Tool, Life Data Labs, Inc., Delta Mustad Hoofcare Center, Vettec, Victory Racing Plate Co. and American Farriers Journal.
