There are many variables that can cause failure when using an adhesive solution in hoof care. British farrier Jeff Newnham says you should keep an eye on the storage date for your preferred adhesive. Newnham encourages farriers to use adhesives as frequently as possible to keep the product fresh.
“Keep that product moving through your business by using it a little at a time,” he says. “It means you will have fresh glue at every application and have consistent results. You don’t have to consider this with nails and shoes, but you do with products like glue.”
He also says storage of glue in a cooler or refrigerator is important for regulation so you don’t have wide variation in its temperature consistently through both sides of the glue.
