I was wondering if other farriers charged extra for forge work, such as rocker toes or hot shoeing. And how much if you do charge.

Since I work all my shoes hot, I do not charge extra for basic shoe modifications(rolled toes, rocker toes, heel extensions, punching an extra nail hole, etc.). However, I do charge extra for clips(since I don't use toe clips but only side or quarter clips, I add $15.00/pair of shoes) and caulks(same price structure as clips). Custom forge work rates vary based on the amount of work/time involved. Hand made light shoes are an additional $25.00/pair, plain stamped, and $35.00/pair, fullered.

D.D., of course charge them. Wouldnt they charge you? We, as a whole, don't charge enough. You can't even get your car tuned up for $50 or $60, much less spend every day getting under other people's horses+ applying our highly developed skills. Don't you want a brand new truck+a brand new car+ a pole barn+ half a dozen horses+ own your own home, maybe a swimming pool, like most of your horse-owning clientele? You won't get those things by giving your-+ my work away for free. Charge for everything.
