Hi! I am an old school grad. farrier from eastern school of Farriery in VA. Wayyy back in the early 80s....so you can imagine, I just got some equines and am very rusty. I have never trimmed, etc Donkey feet before and now I have 3. They all stand ok, etc, But I have some queries for anyone who may know? Their feet SURE as heck do not look like a horse foot. Not the same, concave nature nor frog/heel position. I have just been keeping them Rasped as far as trimming as they barely get enough sole TO, trim! they are kept on pasture/straw paddock only,. I pick/brush their feet daily and no, my picks are not rusty! My questons are....do I hood knife my way down a bit TO, make a wall TO have something to actually Trim? does that<<make sense? These burros are way different than what I am used to for sure. They also have way more tender feet than a horse. I have to be super gentle. I have also learned that short-tyin them while alone to work on the feet, works well. And donkeys? they tend to lean AWAY from you, not INto you like a horse! so that part<<is good, eh? ok, thanks!  melissa
