My fiance has just finished getting her DVM and is now practicing at Alamo Pintado in CA as an Equine veterinarian. I am 8 mos from finishing an engineering degree but would prefer to share my career with my lady. I could use some advice on locating a decent school with good reputation that is also affordable and not incredibly lenthly.  Thanks in advance.

I would check into Bob Smith's Pacific Coast Horseshoeing School in Plymouth, California (near Sacramento).

Have you had any experience with this facility. Just wondering where the recommendation stems from. My fiance has lined up a mini internship over Xmas break with the inhouse farrier at Alamo Pintado to see how I will like it.

I know Bob personally as well as I have lectured at his facility three times now.  Bob also will teach you how to successfully treat foundered horses.  The have plenty of horses to work on at the Grace foundation as well as they work on the zoo animals at San Diego Zoo.

I second Esco's recommendation.  I attended Bob's school 4 years ago.  I felt that the education that I received was first class.  He prepared his students well to start out in the farrier business.  Bob goes the extra mile to see his students excel.
