I AM A PART TIME FARRIER WITH AN OFFICE JOB DURING THE DAY SO MY PHYSICAL ABILITIES ARE NOT AT BEST. MY QUESTION IS:IS A HOOF JACK A GOOD INVESTMENT CHOICE TO HELP AID IN EFFICIENCY SO THAT I DONT RUSH THE JOB AND CUT CORNERS JUST TO GET THE WEIGHT OF THE HORSE OFF OR SHOULD I JUST BUCK UP AND ENDURE THE STRESS AND BECOME USED TO IT? RIGHT NOW AFTER A COUPLE YEARS OF PART TIME I STILL HAVE PROBLEMS HOLDING THE BACK LEG AND KEEPING THE HOOF CAPSULE STATIONARY WHILE RASPING. AND THIS SOMETIMES CAUSES ME HEART ACHE TRYING TO LEVEL THE HOOF. ALSO I SWEAT ALOT AND WHEN MY CHAPS GET WET THEY ACT LIKE A WATER SLIDE FOR THE HORSES LEG. ANY IDEAS OR COMMENTS. THANKS AND GOD BLESS YOUR SHOEING!

Michael,
Any farrier looking to make their body last would be in my opinion, foolish not to use a hoof stand of any make or model. Hoof Jack is one that I use currently and have not found a better one suited to my liking. Take the steps to protect your body so you will not suffer later on. The use of a hoof stand will also allow you to produce a better quality job.
Blessings,

The hoof jack in my opinion is one of the best investments I have in my shoeing trailer. I'm 47 now and feel it. 10 years ago I would wrestle anything and was not worried about my body. Now I am looking for anything that will save time and body!

Hoof Jack have created a tool that is as important as your hammer. Almost any stand is an essential piece of equipment but the Hoof Jack just has the little extras that make it special. I am just getting back into shoeing after a few years off and that stand will help me a lot. I hope that you have got one by now Michael and life is becoming a little easier.
