About 23 years ago I purchased this tool and it's wore out and I can't find another one. It's about 12" long and made of bullet proof glass and aluminum and forms a chain. It is used buy wrapping around a trimmed hoof then pounding out you shoe to match it. If anyone has any information on these tools or even seen one before please let me know Thanks Don

Hey, Don,

If you could send me a picture with some measurements maybe I can find someone that can "make" one or two! Sounds like a very good idea! cowboyrick@earthlink.net

We think we've found the tool that Don describes. Ken Fortenbaugh from Joplin, Mo., directed us to an ad for a device called the "Shoe Shaper" that was advertised in American Farriers Journal back in 1983 and 1984. We tried the company phone number and it was no longer a working number. We also couldn't find any information regarding the company that marketed it.

We've posted a copy of the ad at

<a href=http://www.lesspub.com/cgi-bin/site.pl?afj/shoeshaper>www.lesspub.com/cgi-bin/site.pl?afj/shoeshaper</a>

We removed the contact information for the company. At least you can get an idea of what the product looked like.

There is a flexible french curve you can get at any Art Supply store which operates much the same way. I can see the application as a shoe shaper. Great Idea!
